Review Week 10

As week 10 comes to a close, I am closer to finishing the class! I am very excited!! I am a little sad that it might mean that my portfolio does not get finished, but I think I will try to finish the portfolio even after I am finished with the class. I would like for it to be finished because it deserves to be. I am glad that the stress of finishing the class and the stories will be over though. I am ready to be able to use my time to focus more on my other classes and really utilizing the growth mindset.

My favorite video in the daily announcements is:

I think it important to improve one's confidence if it is not already high. Confidence can help a person face challenges in a more effective manner. I like that the video mentioned how confidence stemmed from DNA, environment, and choices we make. The video said to boost confidence is 1. Picturing success, 2. Believing in your ability to improve, and 3. Practice failure. It exemplifies the idea of Growth Mindset.

My favorite picture from the daily announcements is:
Stretching - Image Source
I have always wanted to take up yoga. Today I stretched more than I normally do which is nothing. I would like to make it a habit to stretch every day. I notice in the morning that I am less limber than in the afternoon. I wonder how people can do yoga at 4 am, but I think they are on to something. The people who do yoga have a more relaxed mindset that I would like to achieve someday. Perhaps what I am trying to achieve is Nirvana?

Week 9 Review

My favorite from this daily announcement is:

(Lion Dance - YouTube)

I remember seeing the dragon dances around Lunar New Year when I was younger. In Vietnamese, we call it Mua Lan. I always loved hearing the drum beats and seeing people dance here and there. It is good luck to feed the dragons money. I wanted to be one of the dancers! I have not been able to live out my dream yet, but I hope I will someday. One of my favorite dance moves was when the dragon stood vertical. Meaning, the person holding the head went on the shoulders of the butt of the dragon.

My favorite image this week was

This week, my goal is to focus. I want to focus on school and myself more. Sometimes I get caught up on the issues I can not control and become stressed. I have decided to mature and do what I can to the best extent possible.

Review Week 8

My favorite image in today's announcements is:
(From Casey's blog - Image Source)

This reminds me of Wednesday night. I went out with some girlfriends! We went to eat at Gogi Go, Marble Slab, and watched Red Sparrow at Harkins. I ate until my stomach looked like I was pregnant! Gogi Go is so good. It seems like a more modern take on bibimbap, a traditional Korean cuisine. I would definitely recommend a visit there! Ice cream was eaten to finish our delicious meal. I had sweet cream with cookie dough and oreos. It was so yummy! Calorie counting and dieting or any rational went out the window. Red Sparrow was an interesting movie. I don't think I would see the movie again. However, I loved Jennifer Lawrence!

My favorite video is:

(What makes something Kafkaesque? - Video Source)

First, what is kafkaesque? The title of the video intrigued me. From the video I learned that kafkaesque is unnecessarily complicated experiences. I feel like life can be kafkaesque. For example, today was slightly kafkaesque. It was not my doing that made something difficult though. I was trying to turn in a document to the Financial Aid office, which they directed me to the Admissions office. The Admissions office was confused on why I was there. Luckily, the person helping me found out for sure where my document should go before I left. In the end, the missing document should have gone to the Financial Aid office. The whole ordeal could have been resolved in 5 minutes but instead it took 20. In the video, it explained kafkaesque is, in many ways, kafkaesque.

Week 7 Review

In the daily announcements, this was my favorite photo. Not only because it was cute but also encouraging. I think that learning takes time and realization that it does not happen all at once. I am still learning about learning. I know that I am not a patient person, but I reassure myself more than average that change does not happen overnight. I think that this photo is empowering because despite the size of the kitten, it continues to go for its goals.

I decided to choose this video because I can't get enough of positive messages! I think it is important to surround yourself with positive images, messages, and videos. Environment has a lot to do with attitudes. It also does not hurt to learn new techniques to gain happiness through positivity. Some of the positive habits that I am lacking is exercising and being persistent. I have never been an athletic person, so getting into an active lifestyle is difficult for me. In some aspects, I am not persistent. Sometimes when things get difficult, I tend to stray away from the challenge. I hope that in the future, I will face challenges head on with no fear but full confidence!

Week 6 Review

This week I chose this image as the graphic I like. I am in love with Ramen. My favorite place to eat ramen is Tamashii in OKC. When I first discovered gourmet ramen, I spent a month eating ramen about once or twice a week in various places to judge their deliciousness. Although I don't eat ramen that excessively, I still enjoy eating it once and a while. For those who live in Norman, I suggest eating ramen at Tatsumaki! It is a bit cheaper than the ramen places in OKC and there is more of a variety in the ramen that they offer.

This week, I decided to watch the video about gratitude. I agree that Sunday is a great day to practice gratitude! Sunday is the beginning of my week, so it is important to start the week on a good note. I believe it is important to realize how lucky we are and how appreciative we should be for the lives we live. The voice in the video is very calming. There were also wonderful imagery to show all of the earth's gifts.
